Aristotle

The great Greek thinker Aristotle was born in 384 B.C. in Stagirus, a city in ancient Macedonia in northern Greece. At the age of eighteen Aristotle went to Athens to begin his studies at Plato’s Academy. He stayed and studied at the Academy for nineteen years and in that time became both a teacher and an independent researcher. After Plato’s death in 347 B.C. Aristotle spent twelve years traveling and living in various places around the Aegean Sea. It was during this time that Aristotle was asked by Philip of Macedon to be a private tutor to his son, Alexander. Aristotle privately taught Alexander for three years before he returned to Athens after Philip gained control of the Greek capital. During this period back in Athens Aristotle founded his own school, the Lyceum, where he taught for twelve years. In 323 B.C. Alexander the Great died and the Macedonians lost control of Athens. Aristotle was forced to leave and he died one year later in Chalcis, north of Athens, at the age of 62.

i got the death wobbles and then…

was long boarding on Rebecca’s street with Shane.

i was showing off.

trying to show the boys that i can do what they can do.

i know how to long board but this board was shaky.

i held on to the passenger’s side mirror where Jackie was sitting.

i was laughing one minute, the trucks on my brothers sector 9 started to wobble.

the jeep started to go fast, i held on and then let go, the breeze was beautiful.

then i decided to grab back on.

i didnt hold on very smoothly.

i knew it was going to be bad.

the board hit the front right wheel, and i lost my balance.

i fell to the ground. my thigh grazed against the gravel and i dragged along the road, still hanging onto the car.

Jackie just looked at me.

No one said anything, my mind was racing and i just watched as the back wheel headed towards my right leg.

it slowly road over my leg, i screamed.

thump, thump.

the car came to a stop and i was just lying on the road screaming and yelling.

the car had run over my leg and i was bleeding. i could see white around my ankle.

jackie came over to comfort me, neighbours came out to see what the noise was all about.

One neighbour yelled at Luis who was driving the Jeep, thinking he’d hit me and was claiming that it was my fault. That neighbour hadn’t actually seen the incident though.

Rebecca’s mum came over to me and said “Marn, were you being stupid?”

I told her “yes.”

Luis drove me to the emergency room, my leg rested on the seat in front of me, Shane was in the passenger’s seat this time.

I got to the emergency room and was put in a wheelchair. I was wheeled into the waiting room and Jackie put me in front of the fish tank to watch the fish.

They took x rays. They numbed my leg and scrubbed it with alcohol swabs.

I didn’t need stitches.

I was at the hospital from 10:50pm-2am.

just an average Monday night.
